About the event

The  dates are weather dependent.  Please confirm with OSFN before going to the Old Courthouse if you are concerned about the weather.

We will be observing the descent  of the Chimney Swifts into their roost at the Old Courthouse in Owen  Sound. This is now private property, so be prepared to stand on the  boulevard as we will not be trespassing.  Chimney Swifts are on the Species at Risk list. They are losing habitat  for roosts (used by large numbers of swifts as they migrate north to  their nesting areas) and nesting sites. Many people may hear their  twittering in the sky just before dark but know little about them.   Several members of the Owen Sound Field Naturalists will provide some  insight into their unique lives.  Binoculars are recommended, but not essential.
